Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English literature. Mitchell began her professional career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). In the following two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. In 1981, she began covering the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was host and panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist in 1988's presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. She covered many notable reports, including arms control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to various summits while in the company of President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
